Mimose-A Research Project

Multimodal IoT devices for self-learning plant monitoring

Multimodal IoT devices for comprehensive and self-learning plant monitoring – this is the name of the research project in which GTE Industrieelektronik is involved. Funding is provided by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (Funding code 03EN4057A-G, period: 01.11.2023 to 31.10.2026).

Multimodal IoT devices represent a paradigm shift in the sensory monitoring of systems. This is because advances in digitalization mean that sufficient computing power is now available. With the extensive recording of corresponding multimodal plant data, the evaluation options can be significantly improved, for example for the early detection of leaks in energy sources such as compressed air, smoke, gas and, increasingly, hydrogen, as is required in the chemical industry.

IoT devices use advanced computing power and AI to collect and analyze sensor data across a wide area and detect anomalies, creating a self-learning monitoring system. Mobile and stationary sensors enable fast reactions even to unknown situations.
